Role of Governor in Legislature

Tamil Nadu Governor R.N.Ravi has withheld assent for certain bills passed by the Tamil Nadu legislative Assembly. This follows the Supreme court expressing Serious Concern over inaction by the governor on the Bills presented for his assent. Governor

The Supreme Court laid down that a Governor cannot sit on key bills passed by a state legislature after casting doubts on the validity of the Assembly session in which the proposed laws were passed with overwhelming majority by the elected representatives of the people. The court settled in a writ petition represented by senior advocate A.M SIngvi.
