Light Combat Helicopter
To significantly increase its combat capabilities, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is getting ready to introduce its first batch of locally produced Light Combat Helicopters (LCH).
At the Jodhpur air station, the indigenous Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) will be formally accepted into the Indian Air Force (IAF).
It satisfies the particular specifications outlined by the Indian Armed Forces and is the only assault helicopter in the world that can land and take off at an altitude of 5,000 metres with a sizable load of weapons and fuel.
Its service ceiling, or the highest density height it can fly, is 6.5 kilometres, and it has a maximum takeoff weight of 5.8 tonnes, a top speed of 268 kilometres per hour, a range of 550 kilometres, and an endurance of more than three hours.
The helicopter's radar signal is reduced through the use of radar-absorbing material, and its construction and landing gear are substantially more crash-proof.
Protection from nuclear, biological, and chemical (NBC) crises is provided by a pressurised compartment.
The helicopter has a mechanism for deploying countermeasures that shields it from hostile radars and infrared missile seekers.
A 20 mm turret gun, 70 mm rockets, and air-to-air missile systems are among the armament systems present.
Two HAL-produced Shakti engines with French ancestry power LCH.
