A second coup is taking place in Burkina Faso this year.

Burkina Faso is a landlocked nation in West Africa that shares borders with the Ivory Coast to the southwest, Togo and Ghana to the south, Benin to the southeast, Mali to the northwest, Niger to the northeast, and Benin to the southeast.

Prior to that, it was known as the Republic of Upper Volta.

Ouagadougou is the country's capital and largest city.

Three rivers that span the nation gave it its previous name of Upper Volta: the Black Volta (or Mouhoun), the White Volta (Nakambé), and the Red Volta (Nazinon).
