Why is it in News?
- 2 day Asian Waterbird census-2020 is commenced in Andhra Pradesh.
Details:
- It is conducted by Bombay Natural History Society.
- It will be conducted at 12 sites of Godavari estuary.
- Kumbabhisekham mudflat in Godavari estuary will also be covered.
- Waterbird:
(1) The term is used to refer to birds that live on or around water.
(2) The term especially applied to birds in freshwater habitats.
(3) Some of the waterbirds in India are White-Throated Kingfisher, Red-Wattled Lapwing, Purple Heron, Indian Cormorant, Common Sandpiper, Painted Stork, Grey Heron, Barn Swallow, Indian Pond Heron etc
