Mining threat to environment in the Aravalli region

- Haryana government approached Supreme Court for the permission to begin mining in the Aravalli region.
Details:
- 2 years ago, the government had passed the Punjab land preservation (Haryana Amendment) bill 2019.
- Environmentalist stand:
(1) The region has already depleted ground water level and poor air quality. This mining would further damage the environment.
(2) Gurugram and Faridabad are already one of the polluted cities in the world.
(3) Ban on mining had improved the forest cover and situation of wildlife.
