Anubhava Mantapa

  • The construction will be completed within two years.
  • The Anubhava Mantapa was conceived originally by 12th century social reformer Basavanna.
  • Anubhava Mantapa:
(1) It was established by Basavanna in the 12th Century C.E. is located in Basavakalyan in Bidar district of Karnataka.
(2) It is the first religious parliament in the world.
(3) Its literal meaning is "experience pavilion".
(4) It was an academy of mystics, saints and philosophers of the lingayat faith in the 12th century.
(5) This institution was also the fountainhead of the Vachana literature which was used as the vector to propagate Veerashaiva religious and philosophical thought.
(6) The Anubhava Mantapa also called as the Mahaamane.
  • Basavanna:
(1) Basavanna was a 12th century philosopher, social reformer and preacher.
(2) He questioned the teachings and traditions of Vedas and ancient scriptures.
(3) Basavanna was born around 800 years ago in 1131 A.D.
(4) He was deeply grieved to find ignorance, casteism, sophistry and untouchability that had penetrated the society.
(5) Basava established the Anubhavamandapa, a place that Allamaprabhu and Akka Mahadevi became a part of. Anubhavamandapa was established as a spiritual and socio-religious academy. 
(6) Basavanna later resigned from the post of Prime Minister in King Bijjala’s court and moved to Kudala Sangama for meditation. 
(7) He assumed that it is incorrect to sacrifice humans or animals to a formless God.
(8) He popularized the concept and base of Ishta-Linga to overcome the discriminations of caste and creed.
(9) Later Ishta-Linga was declared as a symbol of the religion Lingayatism,
