CRPF men die more of heart attacks, suicides
Why it is in news?
- Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha that Heart attacks, depression and suicides claimed lives of more Central Reserve Police Force personnel than anti-Naxal operations.
Statistics
- From 2016 to July this year, 1,294 personnel died due to heart attacks and depression or committed suicide, compared to 85 who died in Left Wing Extremism related operations.
