The Programme for Development of the Semiconductor and Display Manufacturing Ecosystem in India has received Cabinet approval for several changes.

The Diving Support Vessels (DSVs), which were created by HSL for the Indian Navy, are the first of their kind.

The ships will be 118.4 metres long, 22.8 metres wide at their widest point, and 9,350 tonnes in displacement.

These ships would be used for missions involving deep sea diving. Also equipped with a Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle (DSRV), the DSVs are made to perform submarine rescue operations should the need arise.

These ships will also be able to patrol continuously, perform search and rescue missions, and operate helicopters in rough waters.
