The nationwide celebration of Teachers' Day will occurs on September 5 every year.

The day is observed on the birthday of former President and educationist Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

In New Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu will present 46 teachers with National Awards for the year 2022.

On Teachers Day, the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education hosts an annual ceremony to present the National Awards to the top teachers in the country. The selection is conducted using a three-stage, online, transparent selection procedure.

The purpose of the National Awards to Teachers is to honour teachers who have not only improved the quality of schooling but also enriched the lives of their students through their dedication and hard work.
