SHRESHTA Scheme
The Scheme for Residential Education for Students in Targeted Areas (SHRESHTA) has been formulated with the objective to provide quality education and opportunities for even the poorest.
The Residential Education for Students in Targeted Areas (SHRESHTA) Scheme was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment.
The Scheme was created with the goal of providing quality education and opportunity to kids from Scheduled Castes.
In CBSE-affiliated residential schools across the country, the government would provide high-quality education to meritorious but disadvantaged SC pupils.
Each year, around 3,000 seats are available for admission to classes 9th and 11th, with the government covering the entire cost of the school fee and residential fees.
Students are chosen for admission in classes 9th and 11th through the National Entrance Test for SHRESHTA (NETS), which is administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

- Candidates who are accepted will be able to attend any school in the country of their choice.
- Until the end of class 12, the government will cover the entire cost of school fees and hostel fees.
