India wants Chabahar port on INSTC
Why is it in news?
- As per the official statement, India wants Chabahar port in Iran to be included in the 13-nation International North South Transport Corridor (INSTC).
Details:
- India also wants the expansion of INSTC by including Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.
- India proposed that the land route via Kabul and Tashkent would form the INSTC’s “Eastern corridor”.
- INSTC goes via Iran’s biggest port Bandar Abbas, as shown in figure below:
