Himalayan Serow in Assam

Why is it in News?
  • Himalayan Serow as a new creature has been spotted in Assam.
Details:
  • It is spotted in manas tiger reserve’s Bansbari mathanguri forest.
  • Sighting of rare animals is good sign of conservation efforts.
  • Himalayan Serow:
(1) It has features of both goat and antelope.
(2) It is a high-altitude dweller and found 2000-4000 m above sea level.
  • Other rare animals spotted recently are Black-Necked Crane, White Bellied Hero, Mandarin Duck.
