Air Pollution killed 54000 in Delhi

Details:
  • Globally, 1.4 lakhs death were attributed to PM 2.5.
  • It was witneesed in 5 most populous cities – Delhi, Mexico, Sau Paulo, Shanghai and Tokyo.
  • 25000 deaths in Mumbai in 2020 was attributable to air pollution.
  • Impact of air pollution on economy is calculated by approach called ‘willingness-to-pay.
  • It means a lost life year or year lived with disability is converted into money.
