- According to Greenpeace Report, 54000 people got killed due to air pollution.
Details:
- Globally, 1.4 lakhs death were attributed to PM 2.5.
- It was witneesed in 5 most populous cities – Delhi, Mexico, Sau Paulo, Shanghai and Tokyo.
- 25000 deaths in Mumbai in 2020 was attributable to air pollution.
- Impact of air pollution on economy is calculated by approach called ‘willingness-to-pay.
- It means a lost life year or year lived with disability is converted into money.
