NGT’s Stand on NHAI Green Cover

  • National Green Tribunal questioned inadequate steps taken by NHAI to maintain green cover along highways.
Details:
  • Green cover along highways to mitigate vehicular pollution.
  • NHAI stand:
(1) Roads were constructed by Concessionaries.
(2) It was their responsibility to comply with the law.
  • NGT stand:
(1) These are NHAI activities and hiring agents for them.
(2) This doesn’t end NHAI responsibility.
(3) It shows lack of responsibility or the lack of knowledge of the law.
