Banks must not distance customers: FM
Why is it in news?
- The Finance Minister urges bankers to lend loans, in the times of pandemic.
- The Minister was speaking at the Indian Banks’ Association annual general meeting.
More from the Minister:
- Banks must not shy away from lending, especially when the economy is facing major challenges.
- Banks should however take commercially justifiable decisions.
- Lenders should also offer all Indian customers the Rupay card first.
- Banks should discourage non-digital payments, and link every account with the customer’s Aadhaar number by March 31, 2021.
