Committee reviews Kerala situation
Why is it in news?
- The National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC) met for the sixth time in a row on Tuesday with Cabinet Secretary P.K. Sinha in the chair to review the rescue and relief operations in the State.
Minutes of meeting
- The meeting was told that the Department of Food and Public Distribution had made an additional allocation of 89,540 tonnes of rice as per State government’s request.
- In addition, the Department of Consumer Affairs had, in addition to 100 tonnes of pulses supplied earlier, would send additional quantities of green gram and tur dal.
- Public sector oil marketing companies had contributed Rs. 25 crore to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund.
- The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas had opened special points in the flood-affected areas for LPG distribution.
- Permission had also been granted, in coordination with the State government, for non-certified vehicles to carry LPG cylinders.
- The Ministry had also made available 3.2 lakh LPG cylinders and 2.2 lakh regulators.
- Railways have so far supplied 24 lakh litres of drinking water in addition to 2.7 lakh water bottles.
- 14 lakh litres water was currently available at Ernakulam.
