Appropriation Bill passed in Lok Sabha

Why is it in news?
  • The Lok Sabha cleared the Appropriation Bill 2021-2022.
Details:
  • The passage of Appropriation Bill would allow the Central government to draw funds from the Consolidated Fund of India for its operational requirements.
  • The fund will also be used for the implementation of varoius programmes and schemes.
Appropriation Bill:
  • Post the discussions on Budget proposals and the Voting on Demand for Grants, the government introduces the Appropriation Bill in the Lok Sabha.
  • It is intended to give authority to the government to withdraw from the Consolidated Fund, the amounts so voted for meeting the expenditure during the financial year.
  • Under Article 114(3) of the Constitution, no amount can be withdrawn from the Consolidated Fund without the enactment of such a law by Parliament.
