The second phase of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme on the "National Program on High Efficiency Solar PV Modules" has been approved by the Union Cabinet in order to reach Giga Watt scale production of High Efficiency Solar PV Modules.

The national initiative on high efficiency solar PV modules intends to create an ecosystem for high efficiency solar PV module manufacturing in India while reducing reliance on imports in the renewable energy sector.

It will increase employment and support the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

For the purpose of reaching Giga Watt scale manufacturing, the Tranche-2 programme of High-Efficiency Solar PV Modules has been approved with an expense of 19,500 crore rupees.

Building an ecosystem for the production of highly efficient solar PV modules is the goal.

There will be established a manufacturing capacity of about 65,000 Mega Watts per year for completely and partially integrated solar PV modules.
